Cultural Opportunities
The University of Utah offers a variety of cultural opportunities to the community at large. A variety of facilities and programs located on campus offer ongoing exhibitions and performances throughout the calendar year.
Events, exhibitions and programs are often free of charge or offered at discount admission rates for employees of the University and their families. In addition, the University is home to several art galleries.

- Located on the lower level of the Pioneer Memorial Theatre.
- Operates as the main stage space of the Department of Theatre for the University.
- Performances are offered throughout each week and work is directed and designed by faculty, guest artists, and advanced students in the Fine Arts Program.
Gardner Hall [top]
- Located on President’s Circle (200 South).
- Home to a variety of exciting performances by talented students, guest faculty and nationally renowned artists in a variety of diverse disciplines including instrumental music, voice, opera, ballet, modern dance and theater.
- Kingsbury Hall supports the academic, research, and public service missions of the University by presenting:
- Concerts
- Lectures
- Films
- Symposiums
- Conferences
- And More
Programming is intended to enhance the advancement of music, theatre and dance.
- Located within the Pioneer Theatre facility.
- Each show at the Pioneer brings new artists to the Loge Gallery which features area painters, sculptors, and photographers chosen to complement the show taking place on stage.
Pioneer Memorial Theatre [top]
- Salt Lake City's major regional theatre is located, appropriately, at the top of Broadway (300 South and 1400 East).
- A professional theatre which resides at the University of Utah.
- Produces a seven-play season running from September through May, including a mixture of classics, large-scale musicals, contemporary dramas and comedies.
Price Museum of Fine Arts [top]
- located at the center of main campus.
- The only general art museum in Utah and is accredited by the American Association of Museums.
- The museum collects, exhibits, interprets, researches and preserves a general collection of art objects selected for quality and representing the principal artistic styles and period of civilization. The developing collections aim at presenting an extended cultural history in visual terms. A special exhibitions program complements the permanent collection with works of art from other institutions and private collections.
Red Butte Garden and Arboretum [top]
- Located at 300 Wakara Way with over 150 acres of gardens containing walking paths with natural area and hiking trails.
- The largest botanical and ecological center in the Intermountain West.
- The garden offers four seasons of educational and recreational programs including:
- Concerts
- Festivals
- Children’s Programs
- Nature Outings
- The Garden also features a 500 acre arboretum with over 9,000 specimens of trees and shrubs from around the globe.
- University's ballet company.
- Presents two performance series each academic year in the newly renovated Kingsbury Hall.
- In addition, the company tours throughout the Intermountain West.
- All company members receive tuition scholarships and rehearse daily in preparation for touring and local performances.
Utah Museum of Natural History [top]
- Museum collects, preserves, and displays objects in the fields of anthropology and geology as a means of documenting and preserving our natural and cultural history for future generations. Through timely exhibits and programs, UMNH strives to inspire people to respect and understand the interdependence of past and present communities and natural systems.
