Minimum Wage Increase to $5.85
Effective 7/16/07
On May 25, 2007, President Bush signed a spending bill that, among other things, amended the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) to increase the federal minimum wage. The first of three annual incremental adjustments will raise the minimum wage to $5.85 per hour effective July 24, 2007.
To ensure our compliance, the following actions will occur:
- Employees earning below $5.85 hourly will be adjusted to the new minimum wage effective 7/16/07.
- Minimum pay rates of grades 1 & 2 will be updated to reflect $5.85 on the salary schedule.
- This change is the first of three annual incremental adjustments resulting in a minimum wage rate of $7.25 in July 2009.
